AECOM is excited to share our SBC booth in New Orleans with Canine Companions, a nonprofit that was founded in 1975 to provide service dogs to adults, children, and veterans living with disabilities, as well as facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice and educational settings.
The organization works with the Tulane University Service Dog Training and Education Program (TUSTEP), based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Through the program, student volunteers learn to be “puppy raisers” who nurture and train the puppies until the dogs are ready to graduate to a professional Canine Companions training facility at 18 months old. This impactful collaboration not only prepares the dogs for their future role as caregivers, but also offers students invaluable community engagement experience. For nearly 50 years, Canine Companions has provided service dogs and follow-up services at no cost to their clients
If you’d like to join us in supporting this amazing organization and the work that they are doing with the student volunteers at TUSTEP, please stop by SBC booth 741.
