Brother Wolf was called in to assist with a situation in a neighboring county this past week when the department of social services performed a wellness check on a 90 year old man and discovered more than 20 cats inside his home and about as many outside. The man was overwhelmed with the animals, who were breeding unchecked and suffering from malnutrition and intestinal parasites.
Brother Wolf took the sickest cats into our care, including a mom and her three kittens, a cat with a prolapsed rectum, and adult cats battling respiratory infections. All of these cats must be treated for coccidia, ear infections, and spay/neutered.
We plan to return next week to assess again and take more animals, if necessary. And we will assist the gentleman with spaying and neutering the rest of his companion animals, as well as providing vaccinations to them so that he can safely and appropriately care for a manageable amount of companions.
