My husband and I first met Merribelle on a hot Friday night in May of 2010.  She was tied inside of a horse trailer and headed to auction.  She was pregnant. I knew that wasn't good but how could I help change her destiny?  I lived in the middle of a village and couldn't take her home with me.  Where could I turn to for help?

Fortunately Cheri and Burt from Cracker Box Palace came to the rescue.  They joined us on that hot May night.  We spent over an hour coaxing Merribelle off the trailer she was on and onto the one that would take her to her new home.  Based on her experience Merribelle didn't trust humans.  It took months of patience and love for the team at Cracker Box to be able to touch Merribelle, after all she was pregnant and would be delivering in the fall.   On a cool November morning the staff went to the maternity pasture that had been created for Merribelle and there she was with her baby "Dannie".  

Fast forward to 2017 and you'll find Merribelle and Dannie living a wonderful life at Cracker Box Palace. They greet hundereds of farm visitors yearly and enjoy all of the children who are amazed at the size of their ears!
