Camp Heart Connection is one of Children's Cancer Connection's largest programs. CCC has been dedicated to providing camps for Iowa children affected by childhood cancer since 1988 and we need your help to continue for many years to come. In addition to providing a week-long Oncology Camp, they also provide an identical week of camp for siblings of children diagnosed. At Children's Cancer Connection they believe in serving the entire family through the entire journey! Day Camp, Teen Camp, and Family camp are also available throughout the year for families to connect and create lifelong memories.
Cancer can be a financial burden for many families. At CCC, they are dedicated to making sure everyone can experience camp. No one is ever charged any amount to come to summer camp and they work year-round to make sure every camper can have a magical experience! When you donate through my Campership Challenge, you are helping ensure every camper can experience camp as just a normal kid!
This past year has been so difficult for everyone. We were all heartbroken when CCC had to cancel in-person camp this last summer but found away for everyone to still "get together" virtually. This I think was really important to those campers who look forward to that week every year, staff included too. For some people, camp is their "safe space" to just be who they truly are and don't have to feel judged or worry about being treated differently.
I want to help raise money for CCC and for camp because it had impacted my life SO much. I met some of my best friends through camp and made so many connections that I still hold close to my heart. With this pandemic, a lot of CCC's fundraising events were canceled or postponed and they weren't about to raise the money they needed. A lot of the donors were struggling as well during this past year which also made it difficult for them to make donations for this organization.
I have set my goal to $600 this year. In the past I have surpassed this goal and I'm hoping that is going to be the case this year also. I know it has been a year of struggle for everyone, but even $5 can go a long way. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
