On Sunday, March 5, 2023 myself and some dear friends will be participating in the 2023 Chicago Polar Plunge, celebrating more than 20 years of plunging! I am excited to take on the challenge of the Chicago Polar Plunge and jump in to Lake Michigan’s chilly waters to support thousands of athletes that participate in Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children’s Charities programs.
My why, is based on two important people in my life, my sister Nancy, and my friends' brother, Andrew. Both of them are no longer with us, but faced their disabilities with courage their entire lives. My sister Nancy competed in Special Olympics in Swimming and was a big part of her life. I have her silver medal hanging in my classroom.
My goal is to raise $500.00 personally, and a team goal of $1000.00. With ANY donation amount, people with intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to discover new strengths, abilities, and accomplishments. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
