Why do we raise money for Special Olympics?
Each year our Diverse Learners at Edison Park Elementary take part in special olympics events held throughout the city. Throughout the year our amazing students spend time practiticing for these events and the joy and excitement that it brings to their eyes is heartwarming. It is something we all look forward to throughout the year.
Special Olympics teachers our student athletes valuable motor skills, independance, confidence, and teamwork. If you've ever been to a Special Olympics event you can feel the love, respect, and fun in the air. It's one of the most beautiful experiences you can have. The confidence and joy we see in our students faces tops any hard day that may come along. We plunge because we are dedicated to making sure that Special Olympics has the funds and support that will allow them to continue to host these amazing events for children all across our city.
Let's spread love and joy as we approach our plunge date on Sunday, March 3, 2024. We are excited to take on the challenge of the Chicago Polar Plunge and jump into Lake Michigan’s chilly waters to support thousands of Chicagoans who participate in Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children’s Charities programs. Through your donations, people with intellectual disabilities can discover new strengths, abilities, and accomplishments.
