Welcome! We invite you to join us on Saturday, October 29th for the fourth annual Walk of Remembrance: Miles for Margaret, Lydia and All Babies Gone Too Soon.
This event takes place to honor the lives of babies who have died due to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, neonatal or infant loss. Everyone is invited to walk the steps our babies will never take, as we carry them with us in our hearts.
We are so excited to have an in-person event this year, but those who cannot attend in-person are invited to join from any location as a virtual participant!
EVENT DETAILS
- Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022 at James Island County Park, beginning at the Wappoo Shelter
- Check-in and remembrance activities begin at 9 am
- Welcome ceremony and baby name reading begins at 10 am
- Walk begins at approximately 10:30 am
Please plan to arrive early to allow yourself plenty of time for entry to the park, parking and registration / shirt pickup.
Preceding the walk will be a brief welcome ceremony and baby name reading to honor the lives of babies gone too soon. Participants will then walk 1.4 miles together along a paved trail surrounded by beautiful scenery. Meaningful remembrance activities will be incorporated throughout the event.
*Note that registration for this event does not include the $2/person entry fee at James Island County Park. You will have to pay this to the park attendant upon your arrival, unless you are a Charleston County Parks Gold Pass member.
This event benefits Count the Kicks, an organization that educates expectant parents about the importance of tracking baby movements during pregnancy to prevent stillbirth. Research shows that a change in movement is sometimes the only indication that a baby is in distress.
