Cincinnati Congenital Heart Walk

TEAM GUS is at it again in our 9th year walking with The Children's Heart Foundation in the fight against Congenital Heart Defects!

Here's where we are: Gus is active, agile, and adventurous! He's full of ideas and opinions. Strong ones — delivered often — almost always at volume — always with conviction. He can tell you who would win a fight between a wolverine and a Tasmanian devil, that cats are scared of cucumbers and exactly why you should never poke a possum. He loves learning any new science thing, is a natural on the drums, and has to be reminded it's not safe to cross the street while looking through a book. We love it!

Mostly now, we're curious about what's next — will he need another intervention? But more than that, we’re curious who he's going to become, what he's going to care about, what he's going to dive into. It's a good place to be. It's the whole point of everything The Children's Heart Foundation has helped make possible for kids like him.

We don't face the physical scare every single day anymore. And though we don't have the same worry as the first years, we still gather yearly in celebration of our Heart Warrior, in honor of all the other Heart Warriors and the unseen challenges they face, in memory of our Heart Angels, and to raise support for anyone navigating this hard path.
