Dr. Jack Ber Yaffa
Date of Birth - 4/28/41
Date of Death - 8/21/24
Reunited at last……
Despite losing his one true love, Phyllis, on 1/21/22, Dr. Jack B. Yaffa lived on for the last few years and missed her dearly. His wish to be reunited with his forever love finally came true, and they can now rest in peace, together.
Jack was born on 4/28/41 in Camden, New Jersey. His parents, Harry and Rose Yaffa, had five children, of which, Jack was the second oldest. Although the family had an established Junk Yard and Recycling Business, Jack had bigger plans. He was the first in his family to attend college. At the University of Richmond, he excelled at football, playing both offense and defense, as well as in science classes, and he met the love of his life. He went on to attend The Medical College of Virginia and then completed his residency and fellowship training at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He became one of the most revered General and Vascular Surgeons in Miami. He loved his work and was a titan in the operating room. He continued to perform surgeries in his dreams long after he became disabled and was no longer able to practice.
He was a monster of a man, truly stronger than an ox! He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, friend, and role model. Jack and Phyllis were married fifty-seven wonderful years and together raised four children: Andy (Romy), Sam, Jodi (Ryan Kuhl), and Greg (Cristina). Jack cherished quality time with his eleven incredible grandchildren: Ryan, Garrett, Hailey, Amanda, Meghan, Samantha, Matthew, Nicole, Logan, Dylan, and Baby Eva. Through this lineage, his legacy will forever live on.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Star of David Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home (7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale FL) at 11:45 am. For those who are unable to physically attend, a Zoom link is provided below.
