Gayle Denise Gordon was driven by a passion for learning and helping people. She started her career as a Certified Public Accountant and went back to school in her 50s to become a Nurse Practitioner so she could serve the people of her community. Throughout her life she cared for others whether it was coaching local girls soccer teams, volunteering for hurricane relief and food kitchens, or helping out her own family and friends when they needed it most. 

She was also a great athlete. Gayle played many sports over the years including soccer, volleyball, and tennis. As a family we always ran the Turkey Trot together and took long walks throughout our neighborhoods. Until the end of her life she continued walking, hiking, and biking.

At age 70, Gayle was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a devastating and fast-progressing neurodegenerative illness for which there is currently no treatment or cure. Just 33 days after her diagnosis, she passed away on July 28, 2025.

Our family is heartbroken by her loss and we wish to honor Gayle`s memory by supporting awareness and research for prion diseases. We believe through this fundraiser we can contribute to advancing understanding, early detection, and potential treatments for CJD and other prion-related conditions.

Every donation will help support vital research into prion diseases, providing hope for the future and helping to prevent other families from facing what we experienced.

Gayle is survived by her husband, Don MacAllister; daughters, Becky,  Amanda, and Jessica MacAllister; son-in-law, Chris Cassara; siblings Patty, Diane, Sharon, Mike, Jay, Laurie Joe, Becky, and Lisa; and many loving extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Bernice and Justin Gordon, and sister, Eileen LeCompte.
