Mercies In Disguise Research Grant in Honor of the Baxley Family
Contributed by Kathy Baxley and Family
We hope you were inspired by Mercies in Disguise: A Story of Hope, A Family's Genetic Destiny, and The Science That Rescued Them, by New York Times bestselling author, Gina Kolata. The CJD Foundation is pleased to establish the Mercies in Disguise Research Grant, which will fund research on prion diseases, including GSS. All proceeds raised through the Mercies in Disguise Research Grant will be used to fund prion disease research. From the author, Gina Kolata: "Thank you for reading Mercies in Disguise. There are few families like the Baxleys who would be willing to relive the most terrible days of their lives in order to tell us the story of what it is like to live with GSS. I am humbled by their bravery and honesty and am left fervently wishing there were better answers for people with prion diseases. I hope you are as moved as I am and that you, like me, want to find a way to help. I found out that by making a small donation to prion disease research through the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, we can help make a difference for all those who suffer from this terrible group of diseases."
