Growing up in Colorado, I was always given the chance to get outside and experience nature. Whether that was through skiing, road trips to National or State Parks, or learning to fish in well-stocked fishing ponds. Although I was given many opportunities as a kid in nature,  I never fully appreciated getting outside until I studied abroad in New Zealand and joined the University of Auckland "tramping club" where I would disappear every weekend for 2-3 day backpacking trips and hut trips. I then returned to Colorado with a fresh new lens of life and a desire to continue to explore and grow my outdoor adventure skills.

I started working for the Colorado Mountain Club because I believed strongly in the mission of the organization and wanted to contribute to the efforts of the organization and passing my passion for the outdoors onto others.

It's a joy to work for a place that protects our wild places, gets children and under-served youth outdoors, and empowers others to achieve their recreational goals. Many of these kids are not given the same opportunity many of us were when it comes to experiencing the outdoors of Colorado.

For this challenge, I’ll be biking 50 miles - which is about 25 miles longer than I have ever biked before.
