Hi, my name is Katie, and I’ve had the privilege of being part of College Mentors for Kids (CMFK) since my freshman year at Cornell. College Mentors for Kids is an incredible program that connects college students with local youth through weekly on-campus activities designed to inspire growth, confidence, and brighter futures.

I wholeheartedly believe in and respect this program, and I’ve found it to be one of the most meaningful experiences during my time at Cornell. Working closely with my buddy has been so rewarding—it's a chance to make a real difference in a young person's life. While the program focuses on our buddies, I also believe it’s a powerful opportunity for Cornell students to learn from the kids we mentor.

In the midst of Cornell’s demanding and fast-paced culture, CMFK has allowed me to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with what truly matters. The joy our buddies bring, with their bright energy and dreams, makes this experience so special. It’s inspiring to listen to them talk about their goals and day-to-day lives. This exchange of values is not only beautiful but life-changing.

What makes CMFK even more extraordinary is that all the students involved—us mentors—work together to fundraise for the program. These funds support activity costs, transportation, snacks, and anything else necessary to keep the program running.
