Hello, everyone!

My name is Madina Davlatboyeva, and I am a third-year English major at the Ohio State University. I have been involved in College Mentors for Kids the past year and a half, and I love it!

What is College Mentors, you may ask?

College Mentors for Kids is a student-run organization on campus that supports children from the Columbus area. During our weekly activities, my peers and I mentor students and provide experiences with the focus of higher education, future careers, diversity and inclusion, and community service. Our positive relationships with our Little Buddies allow them to build confidence, improve school performances, and have fun on our college campus!

Why did I join the organization?

Mentors are so important! To this day, I remember the mentors I had growing up. Not only did I look up to my parents and my teachers, but I also looked up to the high schoolers who came and read with me in first grade and helped me learn multiplication in third grade. I viewed these students as positive role models, and their encouragement inspired me to be like them one day. Growing up is challenging, but, with a mentor, it's a little easier. That's why I chose to volunteer with CMFK!

College Mentors for Kids connects elementary-age kids to college students through weekly on-campus activities that inspire growth, confidence, and brighter futures. I enjoy volunteering because I get to spend time with my Little Buddy, Arianna, each week and participate in the activities together with other mentors and buddies. This program helps me give back to my community, and I'm learning important leadership skills in the meantime.

Our activities are free for our buddies, but I can't do all of this without your help! Please consider making a gift to help me meet my fundraising goal! I would really appreciate it, and your contribution allows us to continue this program on our campus so we can spread the power of mentoring.
