Mike De Rosa Sr. is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beretliving with ataxia, a rare neurological condition that affects balance, coordination, speech, and mobility. Through Conquering the Climb for Ataxia, Mission: Machu Picchu, he is taking on one of the world's most iconic hiking challenges to raise funds for Ataxia Connection in support of North Carolinians living with ataxia.
The Inca Trail is a world-famous 28-mile trek through the Peruvian Andes that ends directly at the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu. It is a moderate-to-challenging journey combining rugged mountain landscapes, high-altitude passes, dense cloud forests, and centuries-old stone steps carved by the Incas.
Every donation helps provide education, resources, community support, and direct assistance to individuals and families affected by this progressive disease.
