THANK YOU FOR ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE of sending one of our Greater Miami Youth for Christ City Life KIX alumni and, if we reach our fundraising goal, three other local teenagers “Over the Edge” by having them rappel down a ten-story office building, all in the name of stopping the youth violence that is rampant in Miami-Dade County. Please take a few moments to read the following message from Jorge and Mary Ann:

"As urban missionaries, we experience the joy of serving Jesus and the at-risk youth He loves.  These teenagers are forced to grow up in notorious South Miami-Dade communities such as Princeton, Naranja, and Goulds, neighborhoods that in the minds of many are often synonymous with either poverty, family dysfunction, gang activity, substance abuse, and limited economic/educational opportunities or dire warnings such as “Don't go there!”  Yet great miracles always occur wherever there is great suffering, especially when young minds, hearts, and lives are transformed by a great God.  Jesus was not afraid to enter a broken world in order to save humanity, and HE IS CALLING YOU to follow Him into the broken world of our youth in order to save them.

When a hard-working mother who resides in a local housing project says that she is worried about her seventeen-year-old daughter, who is currently in therapy because she is traumatized by the sounds of nightly gunshots and the door knocking of police officers who seek information about the killing of a neighbor, GOD IS CALLING YOU TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.            

When scared high schoolers share that their classmate was needlessly shot by her boyfriend at her bus stop, GOD IS CALLING YOU TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. 

When a teenager admits that he is contemplating suicide because domestic violence has destroyed his family,  GOD IS CALLING YOU TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
