I know what it’s like to lose everything. The weeks I spent without permanent shelter after the Eaton Fire destroyed my community were the scariest of my life. Still, I’m one of the lucky ones. Many people go months, years, or even decades without the resources they need. That’s why I’m supporting Crisis House.
Crisis House works to break the cycle of homelessness and domestic violence, creating paths to renewal and hope for people across East County San Diego. Its team moves people from encampments into permanent housing, helps domestic violence survivors leave safely, and stays involved long after move-in day. Through Camp HOPE, it also gives children affected by violence and homelessness a week at camp and year-round mentoring. The program is evidence-based, and University of Oklahoma researchers have tracked significant increases in campers’ hope since 2014.
About 80% of Crisis House’s funding comes from government grants with strict rules about who can be helped. Domestic violence services and Camp HOPE receive very little of that money. Your donation gives Crisis House the flexibility to help the people who fall outside those criteria.
