It's that time of year again, the Central Vermont Humane Society's Walk for Animals on June 5. Why do I fundraise for this event each year? It's a way to say "thank you" and pay it forward.
Thank you for being there for the elderly pet parent who can no longer care for a beloved companion. For the family who just lost their housing. Thank you for welcoming twenty cats from a single home where things got a bit out of control. Thank you for providing safe haven to the stray animal cat seeking shelter in my garage. And for going the extra mile for all those in your care. Thank you for thoughtful match-making that finds the right fit for each animal and adoptive family. Thank you for choosing compassion to inform your work. Thank you for spreading the unique brand of joy that animal companions bring to our lives.
And thank you for bringing Charlie and Mariah into my home and my heart As I write (it's the 19th of May), we are celebrating their 9th birthdays. They came to me for foster care in July 2012 and decided to stay. Even as I ask myself "how can it have been nine years", it's hard to remember a time when they were not part of my life. A strange alchemy, a very special magic!
Please join me in supporting CVHS and their life-saving / life-changing work. I will match the first $1500 in donations so that we'll have a gift of at least $3000.
