Please join me in supporting the Central Vermont Humane Society. Year after year they provide care for about a thousand dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, and other small critters. Each receives bed, board, and lots of love for as long as it takes to find the right adoptive home. Spay, neuter, and vaccines are standard medical services and about 40% of them require some sort of "extra mile" care.
As much as CVHS is an "animal organization", there's a very "human service" aspect to their work. More than half the animals coming into care are surrendered by members of the local community. Changes in housing, health, and economic circumstances often result in this difficult choice.. CVHS is there to care for the animals and provide peace of mind to their people.
Adoption fees cover only a small fraction of the costs, but community support and variety of special events help to bridge the gap As the Covid-19 emergency set in donations dropped off and revenue-generating events like training and clinics have been cancelled. The Walk for Animals is the largest fundraiser of the year for CVHS, and our help is urgently needed.
My life has been graced by the company of a number of feline family members, Several of them found their way to me via CVHS, so this work is particularly dear to my heart. Fallout from the pandemic has had more of an impact on some than others, and I feel fortunate in having lost only a vacation; not a job or a loved one. I've set a fundraising goal of $3000 and will match your donations to get there.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and thank you for kindness.
Pam
