JOIN THE RIDE TO EMPOWER LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Why We Ride

On Saturday, September 19, we are riding to create new opportunities for choice, independence, and personal growth for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Meet Ricki

In 2025, Ricki, someone we’ve supported for years, took on the CycleAbility Challenge for the very first time. At the starting line, he wasn’t sure how far he could go. But with his Direct Support Professional, Felito, riding beside him and cheering him on, Ricki pushed past his doubts, pedaled further than he ever expected, and completed the entire bike path portion of the ride.

He showed up unsure. He finished unstoppable.

That’s what this ride makes possible.
Not just miles logged—but confidence built, barriers broken, and community found.

This is why we ride.

YOUR IMPACT

Funds raised will benefit New Hope Community SHS Dividion with an effort to transform an outdated space into a functional Teaching Kitchen where the people we support can build real-life skills, explore their creativity, and grow their independence.

This kitchen will create new opportunities for individuals to learn, cook, and contribute in meaningful ways, turning everyday experiences into confidence, connection, and possibility.

When you ride or donate, you help:

  • Build a teaching kitchen designed for learning, creating, and empowering independence
  • Expand access to hands-on skill-building experiences like nutrtition and cooking
  • Support programs like Select Connects and Recreation & Respite (R&R), where these skills come to life in community
  • Create space (literally and figuratively) for more people to grow, connect, and thrive

Your impact goes far beyond the finish line.
Every mile brings us closer to a future where everyone has the tools and support to live fully and independently.

We ride for choice. We ride for independence.
We ride for SHS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to ride the full 70 miles?

No! This ride is about participation, community, and impact. Riders are encouraged to choose the distance that feels right for them. Last year, Ricki, one of the people supported by SHS, joined the ride for the first time and completed the entire bike path portion alongside his DSP, Felito. Just let us know where you plan to join or how long you'd like to ride, and we will support your participation!

What if I can’t attend in person?

You can still participate through our virtual Bike Challenge. Ride from your home, gym, or favorite studio throughout September and fundraise in support of the Kitchen Programming at New Hope Community SHS Division. Consider asking friends and family to sponsor your mileage.

Where do the funds raised go?

Funds raised support New Hope Community SHS Division and will help transform an outdated kitchen into a functional Teaching Kitchen where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can build real-life skills, explore creativity, and grow their independence.
