David Ford
About Me!
David Ford grew up in Ojai, California, where he developed a deep love for both the ocean and teaching. These passions have shaped his life in so many ways. As a teacher at Phoenix High School in Oregon, he’s not just about academics – he’s all about helping his students grow as people. Outside the classroom, David has a rich history in the water. He’s a world-champion bodysurfer, competing at top levels around the globe. His connection to the ocean and aquatics runs even deeper in his role as head coach for the Phoenix swim team, where he gets to mentor young swimmers and help them build confidence. He also runs the South Jetty Swells Bodysurfing Association, a nonprofit dedicated to bodysurfing and ocean awareness and safety. David’s life is also grounded in family. As a husband and father of two, he strives to balance his work, his athletic passions, and his commitment to teaching his kids the value of learning, adventure, and giving back. Having worked with the Sparrow program at Phoenix High School, he’s seen firsthand the powerful impact it has on individuals and families. That’s why he’s thrilled to be a part of this year’s DWTRVS event, helping raise awareness and funds for such an important cause.
