Sharon Barnette moved to Trail Oregon four years ago with her son, Matt. She has one stepdaughter, Lisa who lives in Camarillo and two “bonus” daughters, one who lives in New Orleans and one in Central Point. Sharon was born in Cleveland, Ohio and just as she was becoming a teenager her family drove across the country to California. She attended Verdugo High School and upon graduation went to the University of California, Northridge. Sharon graduated with a Master of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies and started her career as a park director, allowing her to create programs that would help people of all ages find their passion through play and recreation. She worked in several different parks departments before moving to June Lake, California in the High Sierras. Eventually, she traded in the mountains for the beaches ofMaui, Hawaii. There, Sharon and her husband built custom cedar homes, and both were active in various community service organizations. Upon retiring, they moved back to the mainland, traveled in a motorhome 8 months out of the year and wintered in their Arizona home. After he died in 2019 Sharon moved to Oregon a year later. She really enjoys helping others and currently volunteers at Hillside Elementary and the Upper Rogue Community Center. Sharon is looking forward to “dancing her heart out” and raising funds for this wonderful organization that empowers kids to help other kids in medical needs through community service and compassion.
