What does Ronald McDonald House Charities® OKC do?

While dealing with the uncertainly of illness or injury, parents of critically ill and injured children are often reluctant to leave the hospital. Ronald McDonald House Charities® Oklahoma City provides a "home-away-from-home" for families who have a sick or injured child receiving medical care at Oklahoma Children's Hospital at NO COST to the family.

The Ronald McDonald House® provides 38 private rooms and two suites for families and is just 262 steps away from the hospital. The House has laundry facilities, a large kitchen, play area, living areas, and a salon to name just a few of the amenities.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room® is located on the 6th Floor of Oklahoma Children’s Hospital at The OU Medical Center. It is a special place where families who live local, as well as families who have traveled long distances and may be staying at the Ronald McDonald House, can find respite care while staying close to their hospitalized child.

The Family Room offers a comfortable home-like setting including a living room area with a television, a kitchen stocked with snacks, showers and a laundry facility. There is also a quiet room for conversation and phone calls in addition to computers to stay in touch with families, friends and workplace responsibilities.

Meet our Day of Giving Chair, Andrea Miller

Andrea Miller and her husband, Kevin have been attending RMHC-OKC’s annual gala, Red Shoe Rendezvous for many years. Their involvement with RMHC-OKC got deeper after they took a tour of the Ronald McDonald House® and got to see firsthand the families that we serve and the amenities we provide because of investments made by our community.

"As a mother, my focus in life is being the best guardian and caregiver I can be to my three children. To me, the Ronald McDonald House Charities® Oklahoma City mission goes to the heart of these inherit parental instincts to care for our children," says Andrea.

After a long day spent at the hospital, our families are welcomed back to the House with a warm, delicious meal prepared by our Guest Chefs. RMHC-OKC provides dinner 365 days a year for our families staying with us. Share with us your favorite meal or tag your favorite restaurant in the comments. For each comment and restaurant tagged $10 will be unlocked up to $500.
