For nearly half of his life, Walden IV was more than a service dog to our son Chance. He was his steady presence through 9 surgeries, countless medical procedures, and every hard day in between. Chance was born with spina bifida, and Walden gave him something no surgery ever could. Confidence, comfort, and a friend who never left his side.

We lost Walden this past November, and our hearts are still healing. But this month, Chance was invited to team training for his next Canine Companions service dog. It's a new chapter we get to walk into because of the incredible support this organization provides, completely free of charge, to families like ours.

It costs approximately $50,000 to breed, raise, train, and place just one service dog. This year, we're setting an ambitious goal to help fund that investment, whether it goes toward Chance's next partner or helps provide a dog for a future family waiting for their own life changing match. Every dollar brings someone closer to the kind of bond Chance and Walden shared.
