Happy DOGust 1st!

DOGust 1st is a time when we can all share in the happiness that dogs bring us, whether an animal is still in a shelter or has found their “fur”ever home. We often don’t know a lot about a shelter dog’s history, so having a special day for them makes DOGust 1st that much more special.

DONATE FUNDS

It takes a lot to take care of all the birthday pets at APS. They receive expert medical treatment, nutritious food, a clean and comfortable place to sleep, daily care, recreation and lots of love. We nurse them to health, give them needed vaccines, conduct behavior assessments, perform spay or neuter surgery, and microchip them. It’s a labor of love that we are so honored to perform.

VOLUNTEER  /   FOSTERING

Another way to help shelter pets is to become a volunteer or foster family. Volunteers dedicate their time to walking dogs, socializing cats, performing enrichment activities with them, and giving them loving attention. There are many ways to VOLUNTEER - CLICK HERE to find out how.

Additionally, we are always in need of foster families to care for animals which may not be ready for adoption just yet. This helps them become acclimated to a loving home and in some cases heal from medical treatment while on the road to adoption. It also provides more space in the shelter for incoming pets.  If you are interested in FOSTERING- CLICK HERE to fill out the application and our coordinator will be in touch.
