Our Story

When Lyla was born at the end of 2020, during a global pandemic, we weren’t sure what our life would look like. Fast forward three years and our life looks pretty typical of that with two toddlers. Toys cover the floors, tiny clothes fill the laundry basket and there is food splattered on the walls. 

 

Although a birth diagnosis of Down syndrome is scary, there is nothing scary about Down syndrome. We have learned from Lyla the love and passion of small things, to celebrate all milestones and that the world is a better place with her in it. 

 

Our goal as 2024 Walk Ambassadors is to create more awareness of DS within our Northern communities, to change old perceptions and show how beautiful and joyful life can be. 

 

We hope that you’ll join us in celebrating how amazing that extra chromosome is!
