Violet McClendon was born and raised in Medford, Oregon. Violet was a Sparrow in 2007 for St. Mary's High School. Sparrow Clubs partnered with Habitat For Humanity to completely redo and upgrade their house, which was slowly deteriorating. Violet was born with a disability called Distal-Arthrogryposis, which caused her legs and hands to be severely deformed. She has had 16 corrective surgeries and endless physical therapy to strengthen her body! She is immensely grateful for Sparrow Clubs and all the help they provide for children in need, children like her. Violet cannot wait to raise as much money as possible and be able to pay back a fraction of the love she has received from Sparrow Clubs. Since 2007, Violet has used her public speaking skills to speak at several assemblies, compelling her fellow students to fundraise for Sparrow Clubs, and exhibiting her vulnerability by sharing her story of how Sparrow Clubs changed her and her family's life. Violet is also extremely passionate about her schooling and volunteer opportunities within her school and community. She is currently finishing up her senior year at South Medford High School and is planning on attending University of Oregon in fall of 2024!
