I have been an ardent supporter of FriendshipWorks and their mission to end elder isolation for over 25 years.  This organization tugs at my heart strings because of my personal and professional interest in caring for older adults.  Many of you know that I have retired after over 42 years in nursing most of which was in Geriatrics, a part of our population that is often ignored.  FriendshipWorks strives every day to support isolated elders through providing a variety of amazing programs utilizing an army of dedicated volunteers. 

My sister Patty and I participate every year to show our continued support of older adults, the FriendshipWorks devoted staff and their throng of steadfast, enthusiastic volunteers.  Our team is The Golden Girls (a family joke) – in memory of our mom Johanna.  Although Mom was in NY and didn’t have access to FW services, she benefited from a host of dedicated companions, volunteers, and friendly visitors when family could not be nearby.  We are eternally grateful for all of those wonderful people who enriched mom’s life and know that the Staff and Volunteers of FriendshipWorks enhance the lives of so many of Boston’s Elders.

Supporting this “Walk to End Elder Isolation” is our way of giving back. We hope you will join us in supporting FriendshipWorks, they cannot stamp out Elder Isolation alone.  They need my financial support and yours.
