Your Excess Can Help Someone Meet Their Needs

Joseph's Story

All my life I have lived around cities and within those cities there is always large amount of those who are homeless.  Not only does California have a homeless issue, but it is one of the biggest in America and it is only getting worse. We all know how expensive housing and rent is in the Bay Area, just imagine how much harder it would be if you had little or nothing to your name. It would be a struggle just to stay on your feet. In fact the majority of those who are homeless in San Francisco were those who were previously employed, but have been forced out to the streets due to the ever increasing rent.

The homeless don't just need money, they need care, shelter, and food. That is where I come in. On March 25th I will participating in the Engage Experience at CityTeam where I will volunteer to prepare food, provide vital resources to those below the poverty line, and impart encouragement for those going through CityTeams various recovery and education programs. Even just listening to those who are living out the day to day struggle can be comforting to them and give them the hope that tomorrow can be better. I am sure this full immersion experience will not only allow me to help those that I enteract with that day, but it will give me the drive and knowledge to make a difference.

We may never be able to defeat homelessness completely, but we can stop its growth and at the very least improve the life of every one of those who we come in contact with. I ask for any amount of donation in support for CityTeam and their cause or just to spread the word about this growing issue. My involvement to help the homeless is not just limited to this experience, but will continue afterwards. Many of us live in abundance and any small amount of time or money is still more than what those who live in poverty have today. You may donate/share my or my team's page.
