Service was a big part of my college life and I found it lacking upon entering the real world. I got introduced to Minds Matter when I lived in NY but was hesitant to join. What could I possibly offer a student? I only wanted to help someone and leave a positive impact. Little did I know that simply having open ears, a caring heart, and just being there could make a big difference in a student's life. Over eight years later, I still say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Minds Matter prepares bright and motivated low-income students for college success through a variety of math, writing, and leadership programs, as well as by matching each student with two mentors for his/her high school career. We also send these students to summer college programs across the country for free (when it's safe to do so). This allows students to realize their potential and achieve their academic dreams. Throughout all life's ups and downs, the devotedness and drive of our wonderful students have been unwavering.
