At the age of 16, my life was turned upside down when a botched surgery on my foot triggered the disease CRPS (also known as RSD), a chronic, neurpathic pain disease. My whole life changed after that, having to drop out of school two years into college due to rapid progression of the disease, and ending up bedridden and homebound for 14 years. Many resources that led me to new doctors and new treatments, came from the RSDSA, the leading organization for CRPS advocacy, research and the creation of new treatments. As an orphan disease, CRPS gets little funding, making events like this walk that much more necessary to raise money for more research, outreach to a community that feels isolated and left behind, and resources for those affected, like support groups. Please donate what you can and thank you to everyone who has stood by my family and I during a very trying 22 years.
