As an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania, I’ve been fortunate to receive the support of FAER to continue my research in improving patient safety. In 2024, I was honored to be awarded the APSF/FAER Mentored Research Training Grant, which has allowed me to focus on a project that is close to my heart—resilience training to prevent intubation harm. Every day, anesthesiologists face high-stakes situations where even the smallest errors can have significant consequences. My research focuses on creating safer conditions for intubation, a critical procedure in anesthesia. With FAER’s support, I’m working to design training and protocols that will help reduce complications and improve outcomes for patients. Grants like FAER’s are vital in making these projects a reality. Without this kind of funding, research that pushes the boundaries of patient safety and innovation would struggle to get off the ground. I’m passionate about making a difference in the perioperative setting, but it’s the generosity of donors that truly enables clinicians like myself to do this work.
