FAER has been supporting faculty, residents and medical students to do basic science, clinical science and education research for many years, and they rely on donations to be able to do the work.  Here's 5 reasons to consider giving now:

1) The University of Iowa has directly benefitted from FAER support.  Our faculty, like Dr. Kaczka, have received FAER funding to help start their academic research career.  Our residents annually receive funding through the Resident Scholar Program to attend the ASA annual meeting and participate in research activities.  We are an approved site for the Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship and had two fourth year medical studentsmatched to us this year who came for summer research and we now may be able to recruit to our program.  

2) Dr. Cynthia Wong has offered to match departmental donations up to a total of $2500.  That means if you donate now, your donation can have twice the impact!

3) We can be winners!  Which ever academic department has the most donors ($25 or higher) wins not only bragging rights, but also a trophy, AND the President of FAER or the Chair of the Board of Directors will come give Grand Rounds to our department.  

4) Donate in someone's honor or memory, and they will receive a notice from FAER of your donation. What a great way to honor a mentor or friend - just in time for the holidays!

5) Patients, trainees and our specialty as a whole all benefit from good research.
