Volunteering

 

Volunteers are a vital part of our event, and we'd love for you to join us in creating a memorable race for all of our participants! Safety is our top priority, so we are following all state and federal reccomendations and taking all neccessary precaustions to protect our volunteers, participants, and staff.

Please be sure to carefully read our open opportunities to make sure you have the right fit for the event.

How to Sign Up

 

     1. Click the orange "Register to Volunteer" button

     2. Create an account with your email address

     3. Select "Volunteering"

     4. Select your prefered position

     5. Fill out the rest of the questions

     6. A staff member will email to confirm your volunteer role for the event

 

If you are interested in signing up for more than one race shift,
or if you would like to bring a group of 5+ volunteers,
please contact staff for signup assistance.

Pre-Event Opportunities

 

Packet Stuffing
Date: Friday, April 9 (FULL)
Time: 1:00 - 3:30 PM
Location: 273 Dearborn Ct., Geneva, IL 60134
Description: Stuff our mailing packets to be shipped out to our participants.

Packet Pickup
Date: Thursday, April 15 (FULL)
Time: 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM & 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Location: 273 Dearborn Ct., Geneva, IL 60134
Description: Stuff participant packets for our in-person race.

Event Day Opportunities

Date: Saturday, April 17
Location: Cantigny Park, 1 S. 151 Winfield Rd., Wheaton, IL 60189

 

Parking Attendants
Shift 1 Time: 6:30 - 10:00 AM
Shift 2 Time: 9:45 AM - 1:00 PM
Number of Volunteers Needed: 8 per shift
Description: Direct traffic in the parking lot before and during the race. Monitor the sections where the course crosses traffic, and ask cars and allow participants to pass. Must be 16+.

Course Marshall
Shift 1 Time: 7:00 - 10:30 AM (8/10 FILLED)
Shift 2 Time: 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM (1/10 FILLED)
Number of Volunteers Needed: 10 per shift
Description: Direct participants along the correct course as they run or walk.  Cheer them on and encourage them as they pass you.

Check-In & Packet Pickup
Shift 1 Time: 6:30 - 9:30 AM (FULL 10/10)
Shift 2 Time: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM (FULL 10/10)
Number of Volunteers Needed: 10 per shift
Description: Check-in participants as they arrive for their designated starting wave.  Give them their assigned bib, swag bag, and t-shirt.

Volunteer Check-In
Shift Time: 6:00 - 10:00 AM (FULL 2/2)
Number of Volunteers Needed: 2
Description: Check-in volunteers as they arrive for their designated shift.  Give them the supplies they need for their position, and direct them to the correct location.

Photographers
Shift Time: 7:30 - 11:00 AM (FULL 5/5)
Number of Volunteers Needed: 5
Description: Document our in-person race by taking pictures of our volunteers, participants, and course.  After the race is over, please send the files to our staff contact.

Half-Way Water Station
Shift 1 Time: 7:00 - 10:30 AM  (FULL 3/3)
Shift 2 Time: 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM (FULL 3/3)
Number of Volunteers Needed: 3 per shift
Description: Man the water station located halfway through the 5K course.  Hand water to anyone who would like some, and direct them along the correct path.

Information & Fundraising Prize Tents
Shift Time: 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM (FULL 3/3)
Number of Volunteers Needed: 3
Description: Answer any questions and give direction to our participants, and give participants who have raised over $200 their extra swag bag.
