Our community has been compared to third world countries when looking at premature babies and preventable losses.
Allen County has one of the highest prematurity rates in Indiana. In 2019, 5,299 babies were born in Allen County. 10% were preterm. 9% were born with a low birth weight. 38 of these babies didn't see their first birthday.
With all the resources available in our community, what is causing this alarming state?
We are making progress in understanding the why and creating change in large part because of the services provided by Healthier Moms and Babies. There is still a lot that needs to be done and your help and support are needed!
I have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren that I would give my life for. To experience their firsts has been so incredible. My hope is that we can come together so every baby born has the opportunity for their first steps, first words, first birthdays and MORE.
Our community is responsible for taking care of our most vulnerable. Each person is important and of great value. We can make strides more quickly - we can change the culture of our community - if we come together and work to ensure that every baby has a healthy beginning.
Please join me in my fundraising and awareness efforts for Healthier Moms and Babies. Together, we can drive the real change to ensure every baby experiences all their firsts!
Thank you for your generosity and caring spirit!
