Dumbo for David

My son, David, would be turning 30 on January 15, 2024 if brain cancer hadn't stolen him from us. In his memory, I'm training to do 30k for his birthday, otherwise known as the Dumbo Double Dare! The races will take place on back to back days, a 10k on Saturday and a half marathon on Sunday. Doing this at Disneyland is really special for me because I have so many great memories there of David and Austin there as they were growing up. I want other families to be able to make many wonderful memories with their kids, too, and that means we have to find better treatments for cancer. Please donate what you can to help us commemorate 30 years of having David's influence on our world.

Why I run for Team Fired Up

I've been so inspired by the running community who have embraced Team Fired Up. So many of them have joined us over the years, and I've learned from them that you can set BIG goals and achieve them. I've never been a runner, but they make this look fun! I'm normally there wishing them well before the race and giving them a snack afterwards, so it will be VERY different being on the running side of things. I'm excited to join them out on the course and make my miles matter for people with cancer.

Growing up watching Peter Pan made David a big fan of Broadway musicals and especially Peter Pan. We watched every version of that show and rode the ride at Disneyland. You can tell from his face that he was thrilled to meet Kathy Rigby in person. (Nice photo bomb from his sister, Austin, too!)
