Preeclampsia FACTS:

A woman could have preeclampsia or HELLP syndrome during pregnancy or up to 6 weeks after baby's delivery

Impacts 1 in 12 pregnancies, leading cause of baby born early or mother's seizure, stroke or death.  700 new mothers die a year in the US with preeclampsia or postpartum preeclampsia, postpartum HELLP as leading cause of death.  

A woman can get preeclampsia in her first pregnancy, recurrent pregnancies, or only get it in one of several pregnancies.  

Sometimes the ONLY symptom is high blood pressure, The Cuff Kit project is SO IMPORTANT

More than 9,000 Cuff Kits have been distributed to 96 healthcare providers in more than 16 states. Our response to Covid-19 was to launch this program last year and put blood pressure monitors (and the education on how to use them) in the hands of at-risk moms. We want self-monitoring to be the standard of care to supplement blood pressure screenings with providers as the program continues to grow throughout the US.

The Promise Walk for Preeclampsia™ supports the mission of the Preeclampsia Foundation as we improve the outcomes of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy by educating, supporting and engaging the community, improving healthcare practices, and finding a cure.
