All funds raised will go straight towards renovating St. Hyacinth's convent for the Franciscans of the Eucharist.
We need this second location to fulfill the Church’s mandate that religious communities establish separate houses of formation to foster the environment of prayer and study needed in the first years of religious life. We are also almost out of bedroom space for sisters in our convent at Our Lady of the Angels. After surveying all the available empty convents in our area, St. Hyacinth was the best choice for our needs. Many parishes have former convents on their property, but most of them have already been repurposed as offices or for parish ministries. St. Hyacinth had the only vacant convent near the Mission that was large enough to serve as a formation house, available for purchase, and close enough to the Mission that our younger sisters can easily join us in serving the poor
St. Hyacinth needs about $3,000,000 worth of renovations to be livable. The building currently has no heat, no electricity, and no running water in most of the building. Help us make this project a reality today!
Please donate online below! If you would like to write a check, please make it out the Franciscans of the Eucharist of Chicago and write "match campaign" in the memo line. Please mail to Mission OLA, 3808 W. Iowa St., Chicago, IL 60651. Thanks!
