As the Senator in Hartford that has the true honor or representing Mystic and the Mystic Aquarium, I have always advocated for the excellence of our largest tourist attraction. What you may not know is the Mystic Aquarium is one of the first thoughts that comes to mind when I think of home. The aquarium has been part of my entire life. As a young child I watched as it was first constructed. My high school prom was held in the aquarium among all the aquatic life. Over the years I made more memories bringing my children, and now grandchild, to experience -- up close -- the wonder of the sea. The aquarium has allowed millions of visitors, especially children, a chance to feel the awe of our undersea world, learn about the environments we need to protect, and plant the seed for our future generations to be excited about science as a career.
Supporting Sea Rescue is critical to be able to help stranded and sick animals. It provides the aquarium’s world-class vets an opportunity not only to help these creatures survive, but to study and learn about their species and the circumstances that lead them to needing our help.
It is my true love of all animals large and small, and the incredible work and research that is done every day here in Mystic at the aquarium, that has prompted me to “go all-in head first” and take the plunge in the warm and balmy new England waters this February 26! I can think of no better reason to be “freezing for a reason” than to help raise much needed funds for Sea Research! Please join me on this journey by donating now!!
