Proverbs 22:9 reminds us that “those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.” Scripture is full of stories about food—manna in the wilderness, and loaves and fishes feeding thousands by the lake.

Our own lives are full of food stories too. Maybe it’s the side dish that makes Thanksgiving complete, a favorite birthday treat, or a Saturday morning breakfast tradition. Food is more than nutrition; it helps us create meaning, build community, and enrich our celebrations. As Lutherans, we believe that even a simple meal of bread and wine, received in faith, is a means of God’s grace.

How remarkable, then, that we can share food with children thousands of miles away. A meal of rice and beans can strengthen their bodies and support their learning. And in the sharing, a bond forms—our well‑being becomes connected to theirs.

I encourage you to join us on October 25th at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bozeman for a community Gala Haitian Celebration of Plenty and support our fundraising as generously as you are able. There is blessing in the sharing.
