On Monday, October 26, we are participating in the Gammon Theological Seminary Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament with a goal that is deeply personal to our family: raising scholarship support in memory of our parents, Terry and Thallis Miller.

For our parents, service wasn't complicated. If there was a need and they could help, they showed up.

Our bonus dad, Terry, could often be found serving security at church or standing at the door as an usher on Sunday mornings. He loved sports, Parliament-Funkadelic, and coaching football throughout the Wichita community. But he was more than a coach. He was the carpool, the listening ear, the ride home, and occasionally the McDonald's drive-thru after practice. Terry understood that sometimes making a difference in someone's life simply meant being there.

Our mother, Thallis, was a true worshiper with a deep love for ministry. She championed women in ministry, had a heart for outreach, and believed that faith should move us to care for people. Her ministry reached beyond the pulpit through the ways she encouraged others, served her community, made room for people, and stepped in wherever she saw a need.

Together, Terry and Thallis taught us the importance of faith, education, community, and service.

In 2016, they helped send Kylan from Wichita to Atlanta to begin his theological education at Gammon Theological Seminary. He would go on to earn his Master of Divinity in 2020 and later return on a full scholarship to complete his Doctor of Ministry in 2024.

Now, as their sons, Kevin and Kylan Pew, we want to help make that opportunity possible for someone else.

Carrying Their Service Forward

Through this year's tournament, we are raising $[INSERT GOAL] to establish the Terry & Thallis Miller Servant Leadership Scholarship.

These funds will support Gammon students who demonstrate a heart for serving people and strengthening their communities—students who understand that ministry and leadership aren't limited to titles or pulpits.

Sometimes service looks like preaching.

Sometimes it looks like advocacy, outreach, mentoring, teaching, organizing, coaching, listening, opening the church door on Sunday morning, or simply making sure somebody has a ride home.

Those are the kinds of servant leaders we want this scholarship to support.
