Leaving the Light On for the Next Gammonite

Somebody left the light on for us. Now, together, we leave it on for somebody else.

As Gammonites, we know what it means to answer God's call, step out on faith, and sometimes walk into the unknown. We also know what it means to find a place that reminds us that we belong and that there is room for us here.

For many of us, scholarship support has helped make our journey at Gammon possible. Somebody believed in Gammon. Somebody believed in theological education. And somebody believed enough in students like us to give, even if they never knew our names or our stories.

Somebody helped leave the light on for us.

Now, we have an opportunity to do the same for someone else.

The Porchlight Scholarship is a student-led fundraising campaign created by the Gammon student body to support Gammon's larger scholarship efforts. As Gammon continues its work to strengthen scholarship support for students, we do not want to simply be recipients of the generosity of others. We want to be a part of giving back and helping make the way for the students coming behind us.

In conjunction with the Gammon Golf Tournament, our goal is to raise $1,000 toward Gammon's scholarship efforts.

For us, this is about more than reaching a $1,000 goal. It is about taking ownership in the future of a place that has invested in us. It is about stewardship, giving back, and making sure another student has the opportunity to answer God's call.

Why a Porchlight?

Think about what it means to pull up to a house and see the porchlight on. It lets you know somebody is home, somebody is expecting you, and there is a place for you when you arrive. That is what Gammon has been for so many of us. Now, as students, we want to help keep that light on. We are investing in this effort ourselves, and we are inviting our families, friends, churches, businesses, organizations, and communities to invest alongside us.
