Join GFWC in Supporting Canine Companions

GFWC members, clubs, and communities across the country are coming together to raise $50,000 in honor of Canine Companions’ 50th anniversary!

That’s the cost to raise, train, and place a highly skilled service dog—and provide ongoing support to the service dog team for the life of the partnership. And yet, Canine Companions provides these dogs completely free of charge.

Let’s make a difference together. With your help, we can fund more service dogs that empower children, adults, and veterans with disabilities to live with greater independence.

Join us and be part of a life-changing mission—one that brings confidence, companionship, and freedom to those who need it most.

Letter from GFWC President Suellen B. Brazil

Suellen's portraitI am honored to highlight the ongoing collaboration between the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) and Canine Companions, an organization whose mission and values strongly align with those of our members. Canine Companions’ dedication to teamwork, compassionate service, innovation, and core principles resonates deeply with GFWC’s commitment to community engagement. Canine Companions alters lives by providing expertly trained service dogs at no cost to those who qualify. GFWC proudly supports this transformative work.

Our partnership, which began nearly at the inception of Canine Companions in 1975, exemplifies the powerful impact of a shared purpose. Supporting individuals with disabilities is important to our organization. During my 50 years with GFWC, and as an educator, I collaborated with countless people dedicated to this cause.

Canine Companions, through their various training centers, is actively engaged with GFWC at every level—from local to national events and meetings. They provide resources and project ideas and, most memorably, they introduce us to their amazing puppies in training—many raised by GFWC volunteers. The Canine Companions team shares impactful stories that bring their mission to life and increase our awareness.

GFWC members play a pivotal role in supporting crucial initiatives by dedicating their time, effort, and financial resources to this essential work.

I urge GFWC members to explore the incredible contributions of Canine Companions. Through this partnership, we uplift countless lives and create meaningful change in communities nationwide.

Why We Fundraise

Imagine dropping your keys and not being able to pick them up. Sitting in the dark, because you can’t turn on the lights. Waiting at a door, unable to open it on your own.

Now imagine having a Canine Companions service dog by your side—trained to help with these tasks and so much more.

Canine Companions enhances the lives of people with disabilities by pairing them with highly trained service dogs, completely free of charge. These dogs perform practical, everyday tasks that reduce reliance on others and increase independence.

With six training centers and teams in all 50 states, Canine Companions leads the service dog industry in quality, innovation, and lifelong impact.

Let’s come together to help provide more of these extraordinary dogs—and change more lives.
