Quality child care is the key to everything

Hello Friends and Family,

Every year November is the month where I really take stock of life - it's my birthday month, Thanksgiving and then the push to Christmas and New Year's. Last year I celebrated both my 40th birthday and Thanksgiving on the same day and realized how grateful I am to be doing something that I love - raising a family and helping children be healthy and well. Taking stock for me meant taking a step back and seeing where my energy can be best spent. This lead me to join the Child Care Council of Westchester (CCCW) this past summer and I couldn't be happier to be a part of an organization that checks all the boxes of my interests - supporting families, empowering women, educating children, advocating for all!

It may be a cliche, but there is no greater truth than that it takes a village to raise a child and a family. I couldn't be the pediatrician to thousands of children if I didn't know my own children were being cared for and educated in a loving, safe and healthy environment. Why is that not an option for every family? At CCCW we believe quality, safe and affordable child care should be available to all children. During this busy holiday season (and my birthday!), please join me in donating to the CCCW as we raise money for scholarships that will not only give a child the gift of child care, but provide their family the gift of support  - to take that job, go back to school and be their best self.

Happy Giving Tuesday,

Emily

Do you believe as we do that all doors should be open to every child, no matter their family’s financial circumstances? Quality child care is the key to all that comes after, but in Westchester, even the hardest working families struggle to afford it. This leaves parents with heartbreaking decisions to make, and many children without the safe, loving care and learning opportunities that the rest of their lives depend on.

This year for #GivingTuesday  - December 3, 2019 – our goal is to raise $20,000 for the Child Care Council’s Key to the Future Fund, which will provide early education scholarships to children most in need.

We want to make sure no parent has to choose between child care and health insurance. We want to make sure no child starts kindergarten at a disadvantage she will never be able to recover from, but on equal footing, and ready to achieve. We want to make sure no working mom loses her job or has to give up on her career dreams, because she can’t afford reliable child care.

What we do want, and work toward every day, is a Westchester where safe, affordable, quality early care and education is available to ALL children from the day they’re born, because the first 5 years of brain development is the key everything: early literacy and math skills, moving grade to grade on time, to high school and college graduation, higher career earnings and lifelong social, emotional and physical health. It reduces the need for special education, and makes a young person less likely to try drugs, get pregnant as a teenager, or enter the juvenile justice system.

Quality child care saves money, and even saves lives.

On #GivingTuesday, please consider a donation to our Key to the Future Fund. Any amount you can give is an important contribution to a child’s success, a parent’s peace of mind, and a better future for our entire community.

We thank you in advance for your support!
