I was so excited to serve as a table host for this year’s OneAmerica Our Rising Tide gala. Unfortunately, OneAmerica is one of many organizations that has had to pivot both their fundraising efforts and work on the ground due to the coronavirus pandemic. 2020 was already a critical year for immigrant and refugee communities with the 2020 Census and local and national elections, and the COVID-19 response has laid bare structural inequalities that have only magnified during this crisis, particularly for immigrant and refugee communities. OneAmerica now shifting their work to support communities who are some of the most impacted by this pandemic – while also having to develop new tools for organizing and also facing a financial setback due to having to postpone their annual celebration.

In order to help OneAmerica weather this storm, I signed up to serve as a virtual fundraiser for their online GiveBIG campaign which begins today and will last through May 6th (GiveBIG Day). I am hopeful that we will be able to celebrate together at the Our Rising Tide Gala on November 13th, but given the many unknowns regarding COVID-19, I hope you will join me in donating today to help OneAmerica do the organizing work now that will lead to successes we can celebrate in November.
