As a Board Member for OneAmerica, I see first-hand the hard work and sincerity OneAmerica puts in causes that are personal to me. I am an immigrant and have been in the United States for almost 17 years (all of it legal and documented). I went to graduate school here followed by law school. Most people (like yourself) who know me or have met me think I must be a U.S. citizen by now or at the very least a permanent resident (aka a Green Card holder). The truth is far from it. I am a non-resident alien and have to apply for a visa every three years (with no guarantee that it will be granted). My date for being able to get a Green Card is about ten years from now and to become a citizen, about fifteen years from now. If this is the situation for me, imagine how difficult it is for those that may not have the privileges that I enjoy of having a good job, financial stability and support of friends and family.
Which is why I ask for your support for OneAmerica. Particularly in view of the current executive order suspending certain categories for immigration, making an already difficult situation worse.
