To get there, we must expand unemployment insurance to include undocumented workers. We have the opportunity to expand dual language programs in schools and ensure students’ languages and cultures are celebrated. In our thriving home, families must be together and free from deportation and detention.

This year we passed a law that will strengthen the WA State Voting Rights Act, at a time when democracy is under attack. We also passed legislation expanding affordable childcare to families with undocumented children. We doubled state funding for our free naturalization clinics across the state to help people apply for citizenship and we ensured grant funding for dual language classrooms continues for another 2 years....but we have so much work to do!
Our legislative goals in the coming year include:
-the ongoing fight for unemployment benefits for ALL workers, because how can someone be "essential" yet deportable?
-making dual language grant funding PERMANENT so school districts can properly plan for the future to center multilingualism
-passing a Wealth Tax on the uber wealthy (we are talking those with $250 million in *assets*) to help fund vital public services
-continuing to increase childcare provider wages while expanding childcare access to families
