Maverick's mother was pregnant with triplets, but the unthinkable happened. Maverick was the only child to survive. He had to be delivered at just 25 weeks.  Maverick spent 16 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at his delivery hospital until he was diagnosed with conditions that require surgery. His parents, Shane and Jason, decided to have him transferred to Nemours. At the time of his transfer, he was not breathing on his own.  Read more ...
