A little bit of background on why we are doing this, our son, Luther, was born with Hemophilia A, a bleeding disorder which impacts his ability to form blood clots. This disorder is not curable and he will live with it his entire life. There have been many advancements in medicine, but still the small bumps and bruises someone with normal factor 8 levels would brush off, could send him to the hospital for infusions. At just 4 years old, you can imagine how worrisome this can be for a parent. The medicines currently available are very expensive ( 500,000 a year), which is tough to get approval for many insurance companies.
