Mission Statement
At the Indiana University School of Medicine, we are dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of our community. As future physicians, we’re well aware of the fact that health is complex and involves more than just medicine; healthy living is rooted in our everyday habits, especially in what we eat and how much we eat. Every day, members of our community struggle to put healthy food on the table for themselves and for their families. As such, we’ve paired with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana to assist food-insecure families by providing meals free of charge to our community members.
Together, we are coordinating our fourth annual food drive charity event The Go for Gary 5k: Family Fun Run.
Our ability to help the 100,000 individuals facing hunger in Lake and Porter counties depends on the generosity and support of people like you: community members, neighbors, and friends. We are raising money and food to help those who need it. You can play an integral role in this mission through your donation and sponsorship.
Donations
We appreciate any monetary donations you can make. $1 = 3 meals. All funds will go directly to the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana to support their work and mission.

- August 23, 2025: Donation deadline to be eligible for sponsorship tier perks (All other donations accepted until race day)
- August 31, 2025: Race sign-up deadline.
Event Description
Our fundraising deadline will culminate in our fourth annual 5k run/walk. The trail follows the beautiful Marquette Park area, which sits along the Lake Michigan beachfront. We welcome everyone in our NWI community to join us in celebrating the mission of this charity and enjoying the end of summer.
